Kes, Mato and Shak are out on their own in a world thay have no knowledge of. After finding a settlement, they are surprised when they are shunned and excluded. They find out that the Chayos have been kidnapping and brainwashing children, now known as the Tainted. After a patrol of Chayos arrive in the settlement, Kes, Mato and Shak find out their guardians have been taken to a city nearby. They race against the robots and set off to rescue their guardians.
