'I was one of eight children to be brought up on a seven and a half acre croft in the small hamlet of Sarclet, near Wick, Caithness. This is a book of memories of a bygone age with thatched roofs, open peat fires, washing boards, box irons, oil lamps, chamber pots and no water or electricity. My childhood holds many percious memories, that I would like to be remembered and share with you. We were known as Kenny's Bairns.'

About the author: 'The author of this book still resides in the beautiful county of Caithness. In her early forties she took up cycling as a hobby and went on to recieve a bronze medal from the North of Scotland Cycling Association. She then turned her attention to touring cycling and raised thousands of pounds for charity. Her last tour saw her cover Scotland, England and Wales in the famous, "End to End". She also climbed the three highest mountains in between. Climbing was another favourite pastime and she was well known for the long mountain treks to bag yet another Munro. She loved her hundred-mile cycling days and both sports gave her much pleasure. She now lives in the small hamlet of Milton, which is just outside Wick. Her hobbies now are: reading, gardening and travel. In the past ten years she has travelled to many exotic locations in the world, enjoying the sunshine and culture. However, most of the time she can be found at home in her beautiful garden which she tends with much pride.' - http://kennysbairns.vpweb.co.uk
