The Magic of Caithness

Thomson, Ronald1998
Books, Manuscripts
In one of the many exciting contributions to this wonderful collection of poetry and prose dedicated to Caithness, Scotland's northernmost county on the mainland, a question is posed: "Is there anything north of Inverness?" Sadly, I have heard this query in the company of many tourists. It echoes in its structure the more profound question about life after death. Strangely enough, the answers to both the terrestrial and spiritual; questions are answered, possibly obliquely, by the contributors to this splendid collection of poetry and pose. All the contributors have connections with Caithness. Some live there; others are exiles and some are outsiders who have fallen in love with the county.
