Between 1910 and 1955, Constance Villiers Stuart wrote, painted and photographed some of the most spectacular and extravagant gardens in the world. She produced two successful illustrated books, and numerous articles for magazines, including Country Life, Vogue, The Burlington Magazine, Harpers Bazaar and The Times. When she died in 1966, she left paintings, photographs, diaries, press cuttings and scrapbooks to her grandchildren. It is upon this fascinating and hitherto unseen archive of memorabilia that this book is based.
