Dathadh is a compilation of memories in Gaelic from Highland people of traditional practices in the dyeing of wool. It is the sixth and last of a series of essays by the author showing Gaelic as a practical and to some extent an industrial language. The irst two essays were published in the magazine 'Gairm', dealing with crofting and slate quarrying. These were followed by publication by the author of 3 free standing booklets, namely 'A'Chailc' an account of the diatomite industry of Loch Cuithir, Skye; 'Ceilp', the history of the kelp industry of the Western Isles; and 'Sealgairean nam Mucan Mara', a compilation of the reminiscences of retired whalers who were whaling around South Georgia.Parallel Scottish Gaelic text and English translation, with introduction and summary in English.
